So... I set up several 10g tanks with sponge filters, 2 or so months ago. I added sand and a plant to each one, today I found swimming fry.

"Magic Fish"

$200 each

just kidding, pretty cool though, in a tank that has never had fish in it, Magically appear 2 fry. They must have been transfered as eggs on a plant, then hatched out when I wasn't looking. They may be Rasboras, we'll see what grows out.

Cool. That happened to me about 4 months ago. Now I have two big rainbows! Can't wait to see what the turn out to be.

Keep us updated. Smile sounds like a plant you can buy from one of the shop of Diagon Alley. (Harry Potter)

Too funny! Ive heard of hitchikers before from live plants usually snails and shrimp but pretty cool to get some eggs and fish fry happening. I remember a person on MFK who bought one of the moss balls from a store, got it home and realized he had a small royal pleco in his tank. The funny part is that it was one of the big box stores that do not carry that type of fish. So somewhere along the line this litte guy managed to hitch a ride.

They are Harliquin Rasboras. One is now large enough to identify, and they definately came from the tank where the plant came from.
