New Tank!!!
Alright well I finaly got around to taking a few pics and a video so here it is. I still have to finish my hood that i am working on but the stand is all done. I need to find some more rocks and decor but other than that i think its getting there. The stand was fairly underbuilt so i beefed it up with lots of 2x4's.

Re: New Tank!!!
I just bought a new tank and am so excited to get going on it. I got a 160 gallon bow front. I started to paint the stand white and just cleaned out the tank. I have to make a few cabinet doors because the stand was homemade and didn't have any. I am wondering if I should put the effort into this stand since it is a rectangle and my tank is a bow-front or should I make a new one that is bow-front to match the tank. What do you guys think? I bought some more media for the fx5 so that’s ready to go. Then, once I have cleared out a spot in my house for it, it should be up and running to get it cycled so I can get my Malawi cichlids in there since some are temporally in my 75 and the rest in my parents 150. When I get the time I am definitely going to do a DIY background that some of you have done. It looks like fun. Here are few pics.

Re: New Tank!!!
Lookin' good so far. It would look great with a matching stand, but I think if you paint the current stand white, then it should be fine as well. just make a door for the middle section.
How much did you get it all for?

Re: New Tank!!!
I got the package deal with tank, stand, fx5, air pump, sponge filters, food, prime, gravel and some sweet big rocks along with the 15+ Malawi cichlids all for $100 less than her asking price! good deal? i think so!

Re: New Tank!!!
I would be eager to set it up and probably just paint the existing stand and be done with it. But that being said when I had set up my 210g I spent time on the stand and reinforced it, trimmed it out and repainted it. I have no regrets now that I spent a few extra weeks getting to look the way I wanted.
Very nice looking set up you got!

Re: New Tank!!!
I am thinking of adding the filter for my new tank to my current 75 gal to get some bb's going in it and then when the tank is all ready i'll do a 50% water change in my current tank into the new tank and swap the filter back out to the new tank. Will this help cut down cycle time or elimante it?

Re: New Tank!!!
That is a good way to 'seed' the new filter to use on the big tank. Looking forward to pics of it set up.
