He sees the food but just don't go after it. I've tried pellets and flakes but just no used. He still have all of his color the fin is fine not breathing hard swimming jus fine but just stayin in one spot. Someone please help me find out what's going on

Is he new in the tank? If he is he might just be getting adjusted, my RD cichlid did the same thing until he was in the tank for about 5 days

hmm i'm not sure then. Im not familiar with ob peacocks but if they eat feeders you might want to try those. Perhaps he just got bored and is looking for variety?

I didn't know that. I thought RD and Midas alike liked live food as treats.

drop it down to like 74-76 range. ideally thats a better temperature for africans. it also helps the water hold more oxygen. just my two cents. also try different foods to try and entice him up.

It isnt that they dont like them, its that feeders you buy at an LFS are usually disease ridden.

If you really want to do feeders, raise your own! Those are healthy Smile

I hate it when they stop eating, and especially hate it when they hang at the top..... My fish get bloat very easily... as soon as I notice a feeding problem i medicate the tank with metro+, wouldnt hurt to give it a try.

Have you noticed any unusual aggression towards him? Any clear or white stringy looking poop? A lot of times they will hang up top trying to escape aggression from others. That causes "stress" which can lead to loss of appetite and the bloat-like symptoms.

I don't think it's aggression as he everyone in the tank is still scared of him. I personally think it's bloat because I haven't seen him poop at all

ive lost a couple peacocks like that if another fish sresses them out, they will just die. i had 2 diffrent ones that thought they were running the tank . when another one took the title they tried to hide on the top of the water , next day game over.ive had alot of them. the ones that are in the middle of the pecking order do fine they get in where they fit in. but when the champ looses his title it literally breaks his spirt and he stresses to death. sounds corny but it happened to me 3 seperate times to be exact.
