55gal goldfish tank
The ponds, koi and goldfish section is ALIVE!!!!!!!! MUHAHAHAHAAA!!
So this is my goldie tank, In the video there's a lot of short pauses because I was getting distracted watching the fish and I was forgetting to form words so you'll have to excuse me. It's getting quite scary of how easily I get distracted now.

Thanks, Dennis is my pride and joy. I love all my goldies though, wish they weren't so overlooked by people because they are so intelligent.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
@pbmax- yes and no, they'll eat some plants yes but the biggest problem these guys cause is just ripping the plants from the substrate while they root around. I was going to deck the whole tank out in large anubias but alas I couldn't afford them
@aquaman
Yeah I can see how not having the stress that the fish are not constantly trying to eat each other would be too much for people Thanks for the comment.
There is a hierarchy in that tank that most people don't get to see. The calico Ryukin and Dennis are the top goldies, then the black moore, then the red cap oranda and then the red and white ryukin.
To each his own, apparently I'm the only goldfish lover on the forum. I guess I'm such a rebel! lol I would love to have large cichlids I just don't have room. The goldfish will need a larger tank themselves in the near future.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
I'm just yanking your chain . I know goldies are not for everyone(or most people I guess lol), I'm not a huge fan of africans myself so... I think they're gorgeous but the aggressiveness is too much for me. I do have my one jewel I'm trying to get a couple more and I will have a 55gal small cichlid tank up in the future but for now I'm stuck with the 20gal.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
Yeah, big anubias get pretty pricey.
If it's over 2", I don't keep it. They are pretty though...

Beautiful goldies, especially the calico.... fellow goldfish lover myself, so you're not alone One of these days I'll post up pics of mine. I love ranchus, but haven't really found a good source of them around here.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
Very nice goldies and tank! Looks like you do a good job of keeping it clean for these messy guys. Fuggles is going to be so happy there. Lots of friends and space to swim around.
Heres a couple of pics of Fuggles so you know what he looks like. He use to be more white but I think he's turning orange.

Thank you thank you. Good to meet a fellow goldie lover, I felt so alone Not a big fan of the ranchus myself. I probably like the labeled "fantails" the most as far as fancys go. They don't have such huge abdomens as the Ryukins. I do greatly prefer the non-fancy verities but they just get too huge. I'm already going to have to upgrade that 55gal when Dennis and Anikin get bigger
@kiana-hey he's kinda cute! Was expecting the worse, I've seen some pretty freaky looking ranchus.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
Fuggles is cute... love the varying shades of orange.
I didn't like ranchus at first... the missing dorsal and huge cheeky headgrowth kinda put me off, but now I love them. They're like mini manatees lol. And I like the slimmer ryukins, not so deep-bodied. I hate seeing a goldie with swimming/floating issues, but it's so common with their bodies being so warped.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
Manatees is a good way to look at it. The more I think about manatee the cuter they look If I could have just non fancy varieties I would. Swimming shouldn't be a problem for fish ya know... I think goldfish in general are just an awesome fish to have. I know people consider them a beginners fish but they're really not if taken care of properly. They require just as much work as the larger cichlids. But the plus side to goldies is that they're not always trying to kill each other I guess having fish get along is a downside to some people though hehe.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
I'm with ya on the goldies, great smart little fish. Can't see the vid from my phone but if your keepin a 55g clean with 5 goldies in it good on ya! my 5" black moore n 3" white oranda TRASH their 46g in two weeks time, gonna upgrade just them to a 75g someday
Re: 55gal goldfish tank
They're fed very lightly. They free feed on duckweed now but as far as processed food goes it's a pinch of this and that every other day. Things will have to be changed up eventually with the comet and common being in the tank. Still trying to figure out what to do. Dennis and Anikin aren't leaving my home so I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
Rubbermaid tubs are a blessing when thy get bigger, or they ALWAYS have fr hottub shells on the free section of craigslist. Since Ive turned my goldies coldwater about a year ago they have NEVER gotten diseases. Just couldnt set it to close to that kitty shelterRatlova30 wrote:They're fed very lightly. Re: 55gal goldfish tank
I've thought about a hot tub shell but for one I don't want to rent a truck to pick one up and second I want them on my porch. Out in the yard I'm not going to be able to pay attention to them most of the time and Dennis is a wet pet to me.

Re: 55gal goldfish tank
Great Goldys!!
Yes I'm a cichlid fan but must admit there's some goldys here out in the pond LOL Orandas, Telescope Butterflys and a couple young koi my youngest some bought with his allowance / money earned. Now he's saving for a monster koi he's fallen in love with, since the price of gas anymore and the bi-weekly visits to go see it looks like we'll be setting up the 1500g pond for it.
