I am going to set up a 5 gallon fish tank and don't want to use a heater. I keep my apartment at 67 degrees, so I'm wondering if there are any plants that wouldn't do well at this temperature. I am also accepting fish and shrimp stocking suggestions. I already have a 2.5 gallon unheated bowl with white cloud minnows and ghost shrimp, so I'll want to do something different from that.

Hi mrashleyodell,

Actually most of the plants we use in our aquariums will grow at 67 degrees; although some species may grow more slowly than at warmer temperature like 77.

My experience is the same - they'll grow fine at that temperature.

I've kept neocaridina (RCS and yellows) in unheated tanks without issue. And my temps would get down to around 60F at night.

What kind of lighting do you have on your 5g?
