Hands down my fav too. I just wish he would figure out how to fertilize eggs. I really hope he is not sterile.

Thanks VW. I really love the Vieja/Paratheraps species. The Bifa and the Breidohri are quickly becoming one my Favs. Gage is holding onto a couple of beauts for me. A WC Regani @ 8" and a WC Argentea @ 7" with a gold tint to it. And She does look beautiful doesnt she?

Have you ever tried the breeding fish on the other side approach with them? I like the look of this pair better than the ones you currently have breeding. I want one of their babies!

Maybe once I expand, I will separate them into their own breeding tank. That way I can feed him fertility drugs and not have all the other fish get it.

I really liked the coloring on it, particularly how it appears that the spots range in color depending on the portion of the body. Very Visually Interesting

Re: First Pics of the new year (load warning)
Thank you.
When the fish gets angry or in the spawning mood, the forehead all the way down its back, from the lateral line up, turns a greenish yellow. Really a cool looking fish if taken care of. I have seen some adults that are absolutely stunning, and some that are just .
I guess we could say that with most fish.

Re: First Pics of the new year (load warning)
Very cool. After seeing this pic and mentally tying it into the fish for sale in Vancouver ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ) where he mentioned its sometimes confused with a polleni, I was looking up the species on The Cichlid Room [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] where it mentioned that getting a successful spawn can be problematic.
So reading that your fish gets in the spawning mood, I'm curious if you've been able to have a successful spawn with surviving fry. Is the "Madness Water" working on these guys?
Which brings me to a question on other species that I think I'll just put in a new thread so that I don't jack yours for my own curiousity.

No spawning activity. It is a male, and the tank is full of females. Lets say he acts like at times a 15 year old boy. But he does not back down from any of the other males, and they are twice to 3 times his size.

@DMD - I know! I caved this week - I got a few multies from Anthraxx after talking my Hubby into letting me keep my 10 gal instead of taking it down (my 15 gal acrylic needs buffing before I get it all up - at this rate, it'll take me a while!).
@Madness - that's funny Hopefully he'll figure it out
