I have a theory
All of those airstones in fish stores aren't really there for the fish. They emit drugged air! It is instantly addictive, making customers come back to the fish store all the time for no apparent reason, and then leave with fish...
That being said!

Ha! Pretty sure I have one just like that in my garage. I believe it's a TruView, made with 1/2" acrylic.

Re: I have a theory
Zerc, you should really consider going down to pick it up. I've bought 3 tanks from the Portland area in the past 2 years or so. There's a much better selection of big tanks down there; I suspect it's because the reef community seems to be more active there.
Just a heads up, TruView just closed up shop. Years ago they had a good reputation and made acrylic tanks more affordable and popular, but I think financial troubles plagued them over the last 1-2 years and they developed something of a bad reputation for customer service. But now, there's no customer service.
Believe it or not, that particular 300g *is* a temporary tank. Bought it because I found a pretty good deal on it. Haven't used it yet, hopefully will put it in service late next summer. I've gotta get the 300g mbuna tank built out first.

Well, the bichir was still alive this morning!
maybe if it didn't look so much like a night-crawler. (i throw 7-8 of them in the tank every few days)
