Best economical camera for fish picture taking?
Finally getting a new camera but need some help. Need to stay in the $200-250 range. Any suggestions? I would love something that would take decent pics of my fish, clear pics. Thanks.

That's a challenging Question, due to the sensor being smaller than a $550 to $1000 range units.
I'd increase budget and look into a 4/5th unit.
Besides from being on a tight budget, you may want to add "Future-proof" among your decision factors.

I don't know anything about cameras or photography, but my cheap Canon Powershot A540 did a pretty good job. All I ever did was set it to automatic, took a lot of shots and got lucky once in a while, but you can see it was capable of taking somewhat decent fish pics for being an inexpensive camera in the hands of a novice.
A couple of examples.

...... The only part I understood was budget and it can't go any higher. But I appreciate your input.
@Those are nice pics betty, how many MP's is your camera? Suppose I can just google it. I have a couple recommendations for cameras and yours is definitely an option. Not expecting to get super high quality pics for my budget but it would be nice to have a camera that doesn't take such blurry pics you can't tell what it is lol my hp 6mp served me well for a couple years.

I don't know if they make this model any more. I bought mine quite a few years ago, so I'm sure they are better now. Mine's a 6 megapixel.
One thing that I would recommend is to look for a macro setting. I take all of my fish pictures in the macro mode. It might be standard on cameras, but like I said before, I don't know much about the subject.
