46 bowfront set up
thought i would post a picture of our new set up, i plan on addig some fake plants, and the back of the tank will have bubble bars going all the way across rather then getting a backdrop. the stand used to be light colored oak, i couldnt stand the color so i used a stain to change the color i like it a lot. I paid $75 for the tank, stand, light, and little hob filter.
before picture (from petsmart web site)

Looks like a nice tank and stand for the price. Are you going to add more fish?

Re: 46 bowfront set up
its a cheap plywood/plastic/lamanite stand and light fixture from petsmart but painting sure does make it look expensive lol.
the fish have been changed a bit, there are 4 peacocks, 1 albino brostlenose pleco, 1 longfin pleco, and 1 rainbow shark, i added a black background and then took out the hob filters and put up the 405. i am adding 5 different victorian species.
so umm i got the 75 gallon i was planning on setting up for these guys and then adding more peacocks to it, but it was a saltwater and i was offered such a good deal on the rest of the supplies i decided to keep it a saltwater.
so my question is will 9 cichlids be ok in this tank being that they will all max out at 3-5 inches.

Sure will. They like it a little crowded.

more is better, especially if you have competing males. I have the same tank/stand filled with saulosi.

Re: 46 bowfront set up
The only thing that I have found out about Peacocks, (those that are more into them, please correct me if I am wrong) is that you will end up with a dominant male that will show beautiful colors. But your other males may not. And if there is not much room, the dominant male may harass the other males a bit aggressively. My son was able to keep 2 males in his tank, (55 gal) one was a Eureka Red Jacobfreibergi, and a Ruby Red Peacock. The male Jacob was beautiful but had to eventually go because my son liked the Ruby Red better and it was getting picked on and not showing its colors very well.

Re: 46 bowfront set up
i think i currently have 3 females and one male, or at least 3 of them dont have spots on the fin, but the smallest one does, so im assuming that there are 3 females and one male right now although they are all still brightly colored.
