Venustus or Livingstonii?
Hello everyone, I recently acquired what I thought was a Venustus from a LFS but now that I'm looking more closely I think it may actually be a Livingstonii. Can anyone help me figure out exactly what this guy is? Thanks!

Re: Venustus or Livingstonii?
Because of the shape of the head and the more pointed snout/mouth area and the color trim on the dorsal fin, I am going to say Livingstonii as well.
Problem with Malawi fishes is that they breed so indiscriminately that a lot of times the line between variants is muddled. Add to that an LFS that doesn't know what they have and it is easy to get a fish you think is one thing (especially as a juvenile) that turns out to be another. Good looking fish either way.

i would do with a livingstonii the coloring in the first pict is not right for a venustus and the pattern does not follow the trend though it is very close

Thanks Icer... I agree, am I correct that a venustus would have basically solid yellow on the dorsal fin toward the tail?
