I started researching planted tanks about a month ago. I set up my 2.5 on 09/18 originally that was just my Betta. Right away realized it wouldn't be big enough I bought the 5.5 gallon and set it up on 09/20 I am in the process of cycling both of them right now. I am doing 10% water changes every day.
All the levels are right where they should be at this point in the cycle process. I'm looking forward to having them cycled, and really being able to stock them how I want

Re: Hello from Bellingham
The 2.5 is probably going to get some nerites and maybe some ornamental shrimp.
I haven't really decided what to do with the 5.5. Here are my ideas so far.
5.5 Gallon
2 male guppies
1 Bamboo Shrimp
2 nerite snails
5.5 Gallon
4 dwarf corys
1 Horned Nerite snail
2 Amano Shrimp
5.5 Gallon
5 Mosquito Rasbora
3 Ghost Shrimp
2 Zebra Nerites
5.5 Gallon
Betta
2 algae eating shrimp (not ghost)
ramshorn snails
assassin snails

I'll get some pics soon, as soon as I can borrow my girlfriends camera.
How many Guppies do you guys think could go into a 5.5 gallon? Aqadvisor says even 1 is overstocking, but other forums people have told me I would be fine with up to 4 as long as I did water changes often. They would all be males to avoid any more guppies from coming along
