Heater Safe?
I pick up a free tank with some equipment including a small heater. Measures 11/16ths X 5" long and is a Profile. The best I can tell as the painted ratings are scratched is that its 75W. Does that sound right to anyone just by the size? Want to mail to a friend for a little 2gl. tank. Thanks! Also looking forward to spending more time here as I've been swamped!

It may well be, but I just went and bought a 25W preset(I'm cheap) and I'll try the 15? in a five or 10 gallon. Doesn't hurt to have a spare! I just didn,t feel comfortable with it. Thanks to you who responded!

Re: Heater Safe?
I know times are tough, but I would think a 10 gallon ($10 @ Petco right now) with possibly a cheap sponge-filter (maybe $12?) would be best for a betta (I'm assuming betta from tank size- 2 gal).
Again, I know NOTHING about bettas.
Your 25 W heater should be good for tanks up to 10 gallons. Good luck!

Re: Heater Safe?
Thanks alexmuw!
I was helping out someone from Pa.. Closet store is Walmart.
Watch out for the P.O. "If it fits it ships up to 70lbs.",
deal. $14 for 4.5lbs. I told them next time I'd add a couple bricks to get my moneys worth!
I'd be better off just sending money!
I'll just test the heater in question in a 5gl. rectangle tank.

Re: Heater Safe?
It might have been cheaper to ship it with a NON-flat rate postage.
Also, I had this same dilemma a couple months ago. Had to send about 10 pounds of fish food back to an online retailer for an exchange. I priced it out with UPS, USPS and FEDEX. The flatrate shipping (was $11) with USPS was cheaper than UPS by $5 and cheaper than FEDEX by $8.
USPS is losing money, but it has recently (within the last 6 months) come out that the guy appointed to head the USPS office has been misappropriating funds (John Potter, Bush Appointee in 2001). Many USPS employees know about this. He has since required that pension plans be PRE-funded 10 YEARS in advance (it would be similar into thinking you must pay 10 years of your mortgage in advance). This of course creates a HUGE budget gap. I just wish people would stop trying to ruin government programs.

Re: Heater Safe?
LOL! They have that covered. Would have been $3 more. They charged me 70 cents for confirmation too. I inquired " Are you implying that you aren't going to render sevices paid for?
