Re: Pond and Koi!!!!
wow! Beautiful koi! We had herons take all our fish over the span of 2 years, your pond looks amazing though.
Re: Pond and Koi!!!!
Thanks! Our larger pond is all bass and sunfish but its not as pretty as this one..
Re: Pond and Koi!!!!
Did you ever try to get a fake decorated heron? I heard those work pretty well since there territorial and it keeps others from coming into the area. I know for a fact it works for Smokey Point Plant Farm, They have a great pound with like 40 koi in it with a fake heron standing by the pond. I was there once and a real heron came in and landed and seen the fake one and left.

The herons dont try to go throught the net do they? My moms wants to start up a pond in teh yard, but we got herons to. Theone in our old neighborhood, scary thing, 4' tall, charged at it but it didnt move one inch. Do you use any filter on it?
Re: Pond and Koi!!!!
That would be to risky for them to get caught up in. I would just try and find a fake heron decoration it does work. then no need for net. But if your close to a wooded area raccoons like koi also, even a net wont stop them.

as far as raccoons go we are right next to the woods and never seen any coons, we did have a slight bought with otters.... dont ask me why but they just Left one day and never returned... and ever since we put up the net the heron has landed and looked at it and left... never had anything caught in it cept branches and leaves in fall... As far as Filters we have the huge ones tht clearcreek sells X2 with a UV on it.. in photo #2 u can see the Spill way tht our pumps pour into. =-D

Hey there. Kinda hoping you could rescue a sunfish. The country pet store in kingston is getting rid of all there fish and tanks. They still have at least one, if not two 7 & 8" sunfish in a ten gallon tank. They did the last time I was in there anyway. Sure would be nice for them to go to an established pond.
Oh and beautiful koi pond. I have always wanted to put one in, but between the bears and the racoons and birds, I dont think I would be able to keep any fish in it.

Re: Pond and Koi!!!!
You Know I did a move somebody back south in Tennessee worked for U-haul lol and he gave us a case of Jack and free koi. Now I said okay not knowing what koi were back then lol yes and he delivered it to my home said it was a pond koi. Now I was super surprized when he showed up with a 3 foot long neon rich blue koi simply beautiful and glowing said they go for 100's dollars and I took it. Was like looking at a gem or something.
