It's all gravy...
So - I noticed the rating system is gone. Just an fyi, I used that as an incentive for participating. Notice my participation had boosted because not only was I trying to get a high score I think it ment something when people got a big + for coming in, introducing them selves, post pictures and take time to help out...
I am just saying. Most other forums has some kind of rating system or another. Any reason for the delete?

People couldn't be grown ups and use it appropriately. There was negatives going around just to be spiteful etc.
Re: It's all gravy...
On another forum I frequent they have a 'thank you' feature... Is there a way to set something up like that? Your profile shows how many 'Thank you' you received.

There isn't. Unfortunately we are limited by the software. I sent another email to someone about porting the forum over. We'll see if I can get any further this time.
Re: It's all gravy...
For the most part even the " - " feature worked. I mean there was times I was rather unruly. It was very humbling to have the community " boo " me. I later kind of reflected , tucked my tail and came back...
I guess this would be an okay time to switch back an older and more fitting screen name - since there is no longer anything to loose.
unless administration could change my screen name?! Aww never mind....

Re: It's all gravy...
It looks like the quote is roughly $400 to get it transitioned over to a new forum. In theory we should have a nice mobile site as well as normal and shouldn't experience any down time. Just a transition where this site will be up and the new one will be up and everyone has to read a PM here to get the password to the new forum.
I'm gonna enable some adwords to be displayed on the new forum. This will help pay off the move and then pay for advertising to aquarium people in washington to grow the forum. We could even target Big cichlid and African cichlid people if we wanted Nothing to crazy, like a banner at the top and bottom or something. Any adblocker would keep you from seeing them but it might pay for the forum in like a year or something if we are lucky

Re: It's all gravy...
lol you guys actually used that feature? i felt it was useless, and just kinda made the in crowd feel better about themselves because you guys all boosted each others comments. i think in the entire time it existed i might have bumped a thread 3 times. glad to see it going away. it should be nice to get a revamp tho. hopefully the mobile app will work better then our current, that seems to be the only real complaint ive seen over the years. thanks for taking time to keep this place awesome cory!

I don't even get a mobile app. That would be nice. I use the browser to access. Looking forward to a hopeful site update though.

Hear the same thing from politicians about taxes, lol! " Oh, the tax will ONLY be in effect for X amount of time to pay for ..." Then there is always an excuse not to remove the tax.
Kidding aside. Cory has done an awesome job with this forum and I appreciate ALL the moderators for maintaining the integrity of this forum.
I do not use the mobile version at all. My mobile device usually does very well loading all features up.
