My little GSP has done it twice. Once I have no idea why. The other because I put too much salt in at once when raising his salinity. I almost killed him I think. But tough little bugger came out of it. 
I kind of wish mine did it more. He is almost perfectly round when he does it. Yours is more flat across the top and rounded under side. I'm jealous he puffs so often.

He was named Scruffy because he reminded me of a scruffy little dog. He loves to puff up every night for no reason.

lol he kinda does remind me of the pictures you see of the abandoned toy poodles and such with their hair all mangy looking. his eyes definitely say ADOPT ME great pics but id definitely do some reasearch as to why he might be doing it. i thought it was a stress thing, not a nightly stretch before bed

Great shots of a full air filled puffer!
My two dragons are just staying the course...... Eat a worm, eat a pellet, eat a chunk out of my catfish. Puffers are such odd little fish.

I feel like he shouldn't need to have a partner to be a real cichlid, Scruffy is a cichlid at heart.

I find it difficult with this cichlid because he is not motivated by his stomach. All my other fish love to eat and they love me feeding them.
