Transshipper information?
Can someone describe how a trans shipper works? I have seen some very pretty bettas but never purchased them due to this being in the listing. Has anyone purchased fish through a trans shipper?

Re: Transshipper information?
from what I understand is the transhipper is the middle guy. The Betta seller sends/delivers to the transhipper and he/she does the paper work and ships. I believe that it is a license that allows the fish to be shipped.

Oh ok, so this is because they are being shipped from outside of the US in? Does the trans shipper hold for a period of time or should you expect the fish to be sent to the trans shipper, they will check on the fish and turn around and ship them back out

I would also be aware that the transhipper may also put on a few, which in turn will cost you more.
I am not sure what the process works or how it is handled.

The best thing for you to do would be to contact the nearest transhipper listed from the seller and get details. They'll differ from person to person. I would expect an added fee unless the seller has already worked that into the price.

Re: Transshipper information?
Typically you pay to have fish shipped to a transhipper. Then you pay the transhipper like $10 per fish imported. Then you pay for shipping from the transhippeer to you. usually shipping for both of em ends up costing 80-100 combined.
Re: Transshipper information?
I haven't used a transshipper but at one time I contacted one as I was thinking of bringing a betta in from overseas.
I think it works this way. You pay the seller a small fee for shipping. He delivers the item to the transshipper of your choice, often shipments to the transshippers are on certain days or weeks of the month. You will need to find that out from the transshipper you chose. You pay the transshipper a shipping fee which rate includes their bringing the fish into the states via legal import and then shipping the fish out to your address. I am uncertain how long they hold the fish. I am sure the transshipper could tell you.
Your best bet would be to pick a transshipper and contact them and make inquires. Good luck and let us know what you get

Re: Transshipper information?
You need to ask Julie at aquacraze.com I know she is a well known trans shipper in California for betta and flowerhorns. She also has bettas in her store that she gets shipped I and then sells. She is also one of the trans shippers for aquacraze .
