Playing With Slate
So I've been looking into different caves for my German Blue Rams because they are fighting over one area under a log!!
I had some slate tile around and I had heard of people just stacking it but that seemed like it would fall and crush someone if it got bumped. so I picked up some aquarium silicone and this is what I came up with.

The Rams love them! so I guess I will be making more and I feel better knowing that the slate is secure and wont crush a fish.

Awesome! I like seeing people taking the time to make their own hard scape.

Re: Playing With Slate
Thanks! Buying caves was just way too expensive, slate is only a couple dollars and you can customize it.

Re: Playing With Slate
I have used a bunch of slate before. All my slate is now in the aquarium rock bone yard (flower garden, lol) along with petrified woods and stuff.
In the first page of this link is a slate structure I built. I cut the slate into strips, used silicone to attach the rock to an acrylic sheet. The acrylic sheet is buried so all u out see is the rock structure. This made a safe haven for breeding dwarf cichlids, or small females trying to get away from larger fish.
