Do you name your fish?

My Midas was named by my wife... "Mr. Fintastic". We call him "Fin" for short. The name fits him because the top ridge of his fin is white and kind of stands out like a mohawk. My pleco is named "Spec" because he was so little when I got him, I thought my Midas was going to eat him. Well hes growing and the name now fits because of his speckled pattern. My Silver dollars we just call "School".

So anyone else name their fish? Come on we know you do!

Every Single fish i have has a name. For instance the Betta in my Avatar is Hannibal.. because he devoured a 1/2inch neon tetra in 1min 30 and then de finned the other in moments... poor lil bastards... but he enjoys whiteclouds from time to time (harder to catch so they last longer)

A couple of them have names:

Retic ray named steve
Snapper charles manson, we got him with than name though
2 gars, gargle and garfunkel

Had a puffer named puff head

Only fish I ever named was when I first started with the hobby.... started a S. American tank... a bunch of big guys in a 55gal, (they werent big when I got them, pet store said they wouldnt outgrow the tank), anyway the last man standin in the tank was my Midas cichlid... he was awesome.... We named him George, after George Foreman because of the "Midas" brake and oil change commercials

That is a pretty good name for a Midas! I just got a new Betta and my wife wants to name him Betta Chedda.... I guess like the better with cheddar hot dogs? I veto'd that one!

Between the kids and my woman all our fish have names.

The funniest to me is OW (o dub ya) Short for Owen Wilson, full grown lone silver dollar who frequently flips out and tries to kill himself smashing against rocks and head first into the end of the tank. Some how he's still alive.

no offense if your a OW fan. lol. peace.

And of coarse like OW and other posted fish name stories, all of ours are named, based on what they remind us of.

I have three types in my tank.
I named their schools, but not the individuals:
le collège
l'université
and l'école

I don't see the point in naming fish.... specially when you have more than one that looks almost exactly the same So I have never named any of my fish

I named all my Frontosa Jukia, all my Shellies Regan and all my Rainbows Darf.

I'm thinking of naming all my snails Smashley.

You should name your schools.

I had a Tiger Oscar about 13 years ago named Ozzy. He jumped out of his tank and flew across the room to his death! That was enough fish naming for me!

i have 2 that have names both my faveret i got vitiman a albino zebra and gumby i dont know what type of cichlid he is got him from petco on the assorted cichlid parts he a nice bright orange
and vitiman is the boss of the tank very mean to others

I named all my new Saulosi. They are all named Sal.

I name my fish after people.

I just lost my little Winston...he was a GSP.

My bettas- White one is Jacob, black one is Smoke Monster, blue/yellow one is Herb 1911. Long story.

My Oscars are Sterling and Lanna. My cremcicle molly is Eddie Valiant. Thas all my fishus.

Only the select few get names. I cant even count the fish i have, 4 have names. timmy the reatarded oscar with an crooked face. vera the enoing cat fish. snaw the sand sifting star fish snaw is a code name. Jacques the cleaner shrimp
