woot inverts sections, the shrimp deserve to be free!

lol, ok so i wanna know what would you think is the fastest way of producing ghost shrimp? i need to feed around 5 ghost shrimp per day and im not willing to pay that much on food. max i can go is a 20 long. anyone has any experience in this? also, if you have any tips or tricks it would be greatly apreciated. ill just have a little HOB filter with a foam sponge thing on the intake. inside ill run just filter foss and maybe a lil ceramic rings for bio because they are smaller than bioballs. the light will probably be a cheap light, maybe from catalina aquariums, they got nice cheap lights. anyways, the heater will just be a small heater. there will be a bunch of mosses and tall stringy plants for them to hide in. probably some java moss, contortion vals, marimo moss ball, and maybe some windelov fern if i feel like spending that much. the gravel will just be some black gravel from my old tank.

anyone got any advice?

okay, first step.

1. Go to walmart and go buy ALL their ghost shrimp.
2. Write down the feeder goldfish item number in your phone in an unsent text message
3. go through self checkout

Theres the first step. Good luck to ya

All the Wal-Mart's that are called "Super Centers" have fish sections. Which means basically all the Wal-Marts in the south sound. The one in Yelm seems to keep their fish alive for the most part. Others including the Lacey one are truly fish graveyards. Sad

I've had ghost shrimp that survived for at least a year. Others died in a month. It seems random when they survive and when they don't. I'm fairly sure it has to do with how their are treated before I get them.

Anyways, on topic:
I have tried breeding them, but from what I read, their babies don't have a good food source in a home aquarium. Unlike fish fry who can go searching for food on their own, the ghost shrimp mother keeps the babies on her belly for a while after they hatch. It makes it difficult for them to find a proper sized first meal. Good luck though.
