Ya know the 3ds are nice and give a great look but they can also be a PIA.. too much crap can get caught behind them. Not too mention a PIA to catch fish unless you remove it, so they have there ups and downs..

I was planning on glueing the 3d background and drill holes and all those sort of stuff so that no fish can go behind it.. but ran out of budget.. >_>JimA wrote:Ya know the 3ds are nice and give a great look but they can also be a PIA.. too much crap can get caught behind them. luckily I have only had to test small tanks, they can fit in my bathtub so if they exploded it wouldn't make too much of a mess

Looks good. I really like the trophs!
A question for you: I notice that you don't have a ton of rock in the tank -- do they get along okay that way or will you need to add more? I have a lot of rockwork in mine and I'm thinking about removing some.

I just added 1 rock from that set up in the photo. with african cichlids especially Tropheus, we know that its all about numbers game.
that group is been together since they were young. those are the offspring of my WC breeder (avatar pic is actual parents) before.
they get a long well for me. a lot of times their in the middle of the tank grazing algae. i got a lot algae built up on the that big rock in the middle. if you see Trophs graze algae in group in the wild, thats how they look like.

Yeah, my tank is only 75 gallons and with the juvies coming of age, some of the older males are becoming really aggressive toward them. I was thinking I might change things up a bit, remove some of the rocks, and see if that helps.

LOL. half of those tanks are smaller 3-20 gallon grow out tanks for my cichlid and pleco fry. right now i have a group of 26 Duboise Maswa trophs, and i've fallen in love with them but i am not satisfied with just one troph tank. as soon as i figure out where to cram another big tank in my house i want to do a colony of Kasanga RR's like yours. do you ever have fry available?

Re: Journey of my 135 gal RR kasangga!
i see.. what kind of plecos do you breed?
i usually have fry when I had my WC breeder... so far not right now, my current group is starting to breed already.. just lost 3 batches due to a young group, their just starting and dont know how to be a good parents yet, saw them ate their fry... >_>
Im on the process of setting up the grow tank already and I stripping the fry so they wont get eaten.
