Thanks you two! Tom, your female crowntail looks really nice too! I kinda want to set up a sorority of female bettas, perhaps that can be a possibility, once I set up the breeder tanks.MRTom wrote:Poke, that female crowntail is gorgeous. I am green with envy.
Re: Betta Pics here!
I hear ya, I want a betta sorority so bad in my cube tank. Problem is I want a bunch of other species too. I keep telling ya that 8 foot tank would be a GREAT sorority!

Re: Betta Pics here!
I have 5 females in my 20G sorority tank. It is working out really well. All the girls were added at the same time except for one of them. Most readings say put everyone in at once to curb aggression. My granddaughters love this tank because its really colorful...1 red, 1 blue, 2 bicolor (silver/red and white/red like Angelos), and 1 white female.

That 8 foot tank would be nice to have a sorority going, if it didn't have any dividers so that they could swim the entire length of the tank. Hehehehe. I would totally do that if I could! :-)

Why be reasonable and responsible? On that note, I need to come by to pick up a few more bettas soonPokeSephiroth wrote:That 8 foot tank would be nice to have a sorority going, if it didn't have any dividers so that they could swim the entire length of the tank. Re: Betta Pics here!
Kinda really considering getting into breeding Koi Betta splendins 0.o XD though it would be after tax return so I can set up a breeding "wall" before I have males and nowhere to put them. And of course I'd have to find a pair I really like to start it up with......Refrains from posting a few aquabid pictures of awesome
Finally!!! Remembered and took the time to take pictures of my CURRENT betta. And Man do I love our new camera. Bonus points though because they were cooperating today
First up is Halo XD
Oddly enough his pectoral fin on the other side is about half the length and almost completely transparent 0.o and sadly, his tail will probably always kind of look like a B because it doesn't want to recover very well from finrot :(The last time it DID but if you look closely you can see it grew back wave-y 0.o at the base of his tail fin
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
This is Sargent Flames. I think he's depressed :(he used to flair all the time and was the fiesty-est fish ever taking bites out of Troubles tail (oops >.< ) but he quit flaring at every little thing and starting hanging out at the bottom/not eating *He did start eating again a few days ago XDDD so maybe he'll get his spunk back?
*Trouble and Flames share a tank and the original divider was no deterrent to Trouble >.<
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Last but not least Private(?) Trouble (his rank is still iffy idk maybe it should be "Specialist Trouble" LOL) who is the biggest non-king betta I have ever seen for sale. Happy go lucky would love to be a father kind of man. Also the biggest trouble maker I've ever seen. he has: rammed a divider on multiple occasions, jumped (put a hat on his tank for a while to keep him in resulting in a wet hat) landed on the floor and survived(he was sticky, had carpet/hair stuck to him and his fins wouldn't unclamp), been oblivious to Flame's attacks and ended up with fin holes, and most recently swam OVER a divider when I put <1/4 inch water over it to stir the surface. Would LOVE to see him bred but no set-up yet, and never seen a female with anywhere near his kind of coloring.
....he's too awesome I couldn't just pick 2....
idk cool pic XD

Look at those spots 0.o like a little bit of purple leopard in there.

BAM black and purple and red!

annnnd fail. Gotta show this one off. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Betta Pics here!
have you tried adding a little aquarium salt to your bettas water? sometimes if our bettas get a little to much to eat they get bloated and stop eating, the salt fixes it every time.

Re: Betta Pics here!
Thanks guys XDD Love watching their antics!
>> not this time. I do have epsom salt and table salt on hand but originally I was going to try and feed him a pea but kept forgetting But he ate freeze dried bloodworms and dug up an old pellet that had swollen and sank. Gobbled it whole 0.o I've never seen betta's dig up old food before it was kinda cool! so we'll see if he's doing much better XD
pretty bettas cichlid-gal!! Good luck getting babies! If you've ever bred before, what do you do about taking care of the fry when they're still small but need food? can they go extended hours of no food ie 6ish hours during the day? Or are you stuck in the house the first few days feeding every other hour?

Re: Betta Pics here!
I have no idea Kara..this will be my first attempt. I have read that you feed every 4 hours and I have read that you feed 2x a day ... not sure .. I will keep reading... LOL... and hopefully find the right method or at least one that works but I HAVE prepared myself for failure in this effort as there are quite a few things necessary to make it work (all of which I am new to... like live foods)

Re: Betta Pics here!
Thanks FishNAbowl Pretty sure I mentally drool whenever I take the time to stare at him lol
cichlid-gal: LOL sounds better then what all the articles I was reading "felt" like: sit at home, feed baby fish every 2 hours. Which means no job no school. BUT they probably don't actually require that kind of feeding.
I think the live foods will definatly be interesting 0.o and I wonder if the vinegar-eel things I saw at the last swap meet would work? seems like there are a ton of them and easy to propogate. But there are so many option 0.o I'd want to start seeing what I can keep alive on an ongoing breeding basis rather then needing to buy multiple cultures of brine shrimp eggs and the like.
BallardFishGuy: Exactly!! XD and because I'm a weirdo when it comes to doing stuff I'm going on a hunt to find the perfect pair lol lots of oranges blacks and whites on both male AND female so I don't get many washed out fish(=big bucks spending on the first pair). My problem will probably end up being having no idea about HOW to go about selling them to more then just here/fb friends 0.o

Re: Betta Pics here!
Kara...I've figured out BBS and am working on white worms and infusoria. I also have live black worms. As for the betta colors...I saw a blue marble koi like fish yesterday on aquabid...it had yellow in it too. I thought it was stunning. Yellow lips also. Mmmm....Mmmmm. But the black and orange are incredible. Good luck with your searches and purchases.KaraWolf wrote:Thanks FishNAbowl Pretty sure I mentally drool whenever I take the time to stare at him lol

Re: Betta Pics here!
I just found this little guy in the ID in a cup full of yellow water for a couple of bucks. I know I would have paid 15 times more than I did for him... but the yellow water was worth the discount. He is very active now in his new tank!

Mr Tom,
Looks like a fighting Plaket. I just got 9 juvinal blue C.T. from a California breeder they are of very good quality. Also found a breeder here in Seattle via E-bay, He has invited us to see/buy his Thai-vietnam fighting plakets. What do you mean by yellow water? what is I.D.?

Re: Betta Pics here!
I got him from Liem's in the international district (ID) a few days before the fire! This guy is one lucky fish! By yellow water, I mean that the water in the cup tested off the scale for ammonia and TDS was over 600ppm.
If you get to take pics from the fish at that breeder, please share! I would do almost anything for a sorority of these plakats!

Re: Betta Pics here!
Every time I go to a ANY fish store...I look at the bettas. I love them I just hate the fact that the males have to have seperate tanks. If they didn't I'd have a tank full of these guys...all different colors and styles...they are so beautiful and have so much personality.
The female sorority tanks are fun as you get lots of color but the females just are not as stunning as the males.
And here's one of those aquabid koi's...wow...stunning fish truly

Look at the caudal fin ... love it!
