Need help identifying a pleco...
We have what was said to be a Golden Nugget Pleco, but it doesn't have any gold on its fins or tail, just the gold spots. Is this an actual Golden Nugget or some other kind?

A picture will help more. There are several plecos that fall under that description.

Yep, picture would help. Ive seen people call a pretty common L001 pleco a gold spot, then it gets confused and called a Gold nugget....

If I were to stab a guess, I would say no gold nugget. Looks to be a L007 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Like I said total guess, but compare a few pics from planet catfish and the spotting looks similar.

Well it could also be a L029.... Read the beginning of this and see if it clarifies the identity.

Re: Need help identifying a pleco...
It is not a Gold Nugget, the Nuggets do have a yellow tail and dorsal. I would guess that it is a Vampire. Either an L007 or L029.
Here is a pic of one of my Vampires (on the right) next to one of my Gold Nuggets(on the left)
