One con about gravel is that sometimes food particles and waste get trapped in there pretty easily. Not a huge issue if you like to clean your tank often. I use a gavel that is slightly smaller than a pea gravel and wish it were smaller to make gravel vac clean up easier.

Not sure what Lowes or Home Depot charges, but I know where you can go to get sand gravel rock very cheap.
As for getting another Devil. I have F1's.

I have pea gravel sized rock in my tank. I do a full gravel vac every week and there is always waste under the gravel at the bottom. Next time I am using sand :p

Re: Lowes river rock and pea gravel
the tank comes with under gravel filters.. but my other half still wants to run a canister and overheads... i do weekly gravel cleans on my 55's.
@Madness: we will be sure to hit you up when the tank is up and cycling..
as for the gravel it is about $3.56 for 0.5 Cu Ft.

Not sure what that comes out to, but I paid $7 for 50lbs. Also, under gravel filters are so 1970's, They are not worth it imo.

I personally like the Fx5 or the Rena Xp4. And a power head attached to a large sponge filter.

Yep
Have to agree with madness about the filter recommendations. I use two FX5's on my 210g and an very happy with the performance.
Also the stuff madness has in his tank is really nice looking, a larger grain sand that does not stir up easily. Been thinking about changing out my gravel for it. Pretty cheap stuff, where he gets it.
