All of these are nice, but the big rock in the shelly tank looks awesome.

I remember when the owner of the tank in picture 2 set that up. I think it was a 400 gallon and he was only like 16 or 17 years old at the time. He did a saulosi species tank.
Those are all very nice.

They are all really nice!!!!! I am going with the last one as my favorite. Although the fake plant in there kinda throws it off for me, its still really nice.

Would agree! Those Back to Nature modules are the best out there and the euro's have total access to them none as far as I know in the states. Not to mention hella expensive but very sweet!!
The rocks lighting and photography on the shelly tank is amazing. I would love to have a tank full of that rock it looks is fantastic!!

Re: Some of my favorite tanks!
I like the 3D backgrounds on the last two tanks. I would love to do one, just did not have that kind of money. I equate the cost to a piece of equipment. So I debate, a 3D background or an FX5. So I have 2 FX5's on my 210g so you know what the winner was, the equipment.
The simplicity of the black backgrounds also appeal to me in that it can give the illusion of a lot more depth than the tank really has like in the first picture. Thats the effect I went for in my tank.
Yes all very nice tanks, but my favorite had to be.... the shelly tank due to the realism.

Re: Some of my favorite tanks!
Yeah!!! I am sure that whoever scaped the shellie tank does planted tanks as well.all of the "rules" of a great scape are used, and used very well. The overall scope of the tank is very attractive to me. But I LOVE 3D backgrounds, they make the tank feel like a piece of nature. I would love to get one, but it takes up a bit of space, and with the big fish, we try to give them as much space as possible.

Re: Some of my favorite tanks!
I love my 3d background and wanted one from the first time I saw one. Way to expensive but I was able to get one without breaking the bank. You can achieve the same look by just doing rock modules and getting them 1 or 2 at a time without spending a fortune. I do agree though they wouldn't do so well with the big boys some of you keep.
You look at the frist tank it's by a guy that goes by Pomi. I think his tank is one of the most natural you will find 180 gal with just rocks and the right light. He has a few vids on youtube. Simply amazing.
Worth a look!

"Rock modules"???? What's that? I am very intrested in the 3D backgrounds and would really like to do one, but I think last time I priced them for a 6' tank they were like $1300. That's a bit a cash. I could set up a whole other tank for that.

Pomi's tank rocks. It's actually hand-made as I recall. He's in eastern Europe, I believe, and is able to maintain a great stock list in that tank.

This is my favorite tank.
Copy and paste the link from "http://" and paste it into your browser. It's amazing. Notice the divers in the tank. The song is really sad, but it fits.

Really not priced that bad. Rock modules are just individual artificial rocks you can psc together.

If you want sweet prices on 3D backgrounds and rock modules (I have 4 backgrounds from them) look up [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] the owners name is Matt and he is located in Salem. They are the best company I have dealt with for this type of thing hands down. He ships using greyhound so you don't pay an arm or a leg for shipping as well. I'll post up some full tank shots of mine soon so you can see, I don't want to highjack the OP's thread (any more than I already have)

I saw some of those Design by Nature setups at Sea Max. They looked very nice and the price was surprisingly low. I picked up a catalog and one of these days, I'm going to order one!
