Re: New Frontosa from Kingstature
Nice!
Oh, and if it is a 6 stripe with some yellowish/gold on the bottom of the dorsal fin, it is most likely a Kavala.

No, I disagree.... Kavala has an eye stripe that is straight... as you can see in my picture, it has a small to big eye stripe.... thats what is confusing the hell out of me.... and the gold is found allot in kigoma's and they have a similar mask but I know those guys have seven stripes. Im so confused, well like I said, I gave up trying to figure it out, gave it to the real pro's at frontosa.com, thoughs guys know there frontosa well....
Also, this guy was kinda robbed of the blue color he has by my flash... he is really purple blueish everywhere... so i was thinking somthing from gibberosa zaire varient.... but the masks are big to small, not small to big.... I dont know!

Re: New Frontosa from Kingstature
Hmm, didn't look at the mask that hard, I just focused on the 6 stripes and the dorsal fin. Lol..either way, nice fish. Let me know what they come up with.

Still waiting!
Ok, I have yet to get an answer, so obviously this is a tough one! This fish is stunning though... the long trailers on the bottom of the fish, the gold yellow, the broad black stripes no mooning, I would just hate to hear it was a cross variant... but it happens, and sometimes you end up with something gorgeous!
Anyway, this fish is thanks to Kingstature yet again! He has kept it very healthy, and obviously its condition is perfect!! Thanks again kings, you are the man at finding/keeping/selling fish... seriously, amazing product, amazin price!!!

Cross Variant
Ok, sooooo I was kinda right to be confused... it is a cross variant ..... cross between the kigoma (7 stripe yellowish) and the burundi (common guy). So this is what a kigrundi look like. lol
a good way my buddy told me he could tell is.... the half seventh stripe... if you look between the eye stripe and the dorsal stripe there is a very light thin stripe... theres the half seventh stripe.... Learn something new everyday in this hobby, I swear.

Re: New Frontosa from Kingstature
If hes to depressing to look at Ive got a 5 gallon tank empty. But sorry bud, you were so excited. : ( An dont cry yourself to sleep, thats just heart breaking.
Re: New Frontosa from Kingstature
lol, he is waaaay too big for a 5gal, he is too big for a 10 gal.... a 20 would be ok probably for 3 months, then you need to jump up again... Thanks for the offer.... and dont worry, I just got really hyped it was a F1 (first gen) Zaire variant. So it was a pretty big buzz killer to find out he definetly isnt a F1, but not even a pure bread...
I exagerated saying I was gonna cry myself to sleep. But thats really sweet you wouldve cared enough to worry about me... thanks.

Re: New Frontosa from Kingstature
Funny you said that, a buddy moved up from cali that I used to talk to on fontosa.com.... He breeds Mpimbwe, (gorgeous frontosa variant), and because I went on frontosa.com with that question, I can meet up with him, but his fish are $$$, so have to pay the big bucks!
And about your open 20gal... I hate to say it lars... I dont trust anyone who whould put a front in a 5 gal bucket... sorry chica... you gotta get a bigger tanks.

Aww man! I only put sick guppies in buckets, the oscars go in the 18 gallon tubs. Man I want himmmm, what would be a minimum tank size? 65 gallons? And I was jokin about the 5 gallon, I dont even have an empty one now that I think about it, gots Leonard in it, fat grumpy betta.
And thats good, not that you might have to a drain a bank account, but thats cool! HE can be your Frontosa drug dealer

Re: New Frontosa from Kingstature
lol lars... a 20gal is too small for a frontosa.... If you had a 30gal I would sell him to you for the same price I got him... you gotta come get him though.... 25 bucks... nice price... gorgeous fish.... I just dont do the hybrid thing, otherwise he is better looking than anything you can get in a pet store.... (not including specialty shops).
