New additions to the family Empty New additions to the family

Well I picked up some new additions to the family yesterday. They are babies. Only about 4-5 months old. Both are clownfish. One is a platinum and the other is a grade A picasso. They are still pretty tiny, but though I would give it a try and put them in with my black ocellaris clowns. These two have been living with their siblings in a bare 10 gal tank all their lives so I expected them to be a little slow at exploring their new home. Well I spent a couple hours acclimating them and then floating them in a bag to get them adapted to the tank temp and then let them loose in the tank. To my surprise they BOTH made a B-line for the anemone like it was a long lost friend. The platinum clown just dove right in. Its so small I thought the anemone was going to eat it, but the little guy squirmed in and out of it without any problems. Everything was good for a while, then......my female black ocellaris found them. They were too close to her mate I guess and she chased them off into a corner and wouldn't let them out. SO....as to not cause them any stress, so they dont die....they are now in their own tank on my kitchen counter until they get bigger and able to hold their own. Here is a video of them in the anemone. It was so cute. Its kind of dark cause the lights were out when I released them into the tank.

They are going into the smaller 34 gal tank. I will have to wait till they get bigger though. The black ones that are in there now were picking on them. We'll try it again in a month or so and maybe the black ones will get moved to the 75 gal tank. Or I will just have to set up another saltwater tank. I have been thinking about selling the 34 gal Red Sea Max and setting up another slightly larger tank somewhere around 50-60 gal. But for the next few months they will have their own tank on the island counter top in my kitchen.

Fiends of mine have a pair of picasso's and raised three of their clutches. They have a few left in the youngest clutch, which is the one these guys are from. I believe he has two platinums left and I think he will let them go for 100 each. They normally sell for upwards 400 each. Let me know if anyone wants them. You will have to come over here to get them though. They have a couple picassos left too and some very cute standard orange, black & white ones. If your serious about getting any, I will get you their name and number.

Very cute little guys! I bet they would like a small anemone now that could move with them later.

I am actually going to take the two black and white ocellaris out of the 34 gal and put them in the 75 gal tank and then put these two in the 34 with the anemone. I will probably do it next weekend. My parents are visiting this weekend.

Well I finally moved the black ocellaris clowns to the 75 gal tank and moved the babies into the 34 gal tank. I was extremely pleased that there has been no agression what so ever between the black and orange ocellaris clowns. So glad. The babies took to the anemone within the first minute of being placed in the tank. They are being a little agressive between themselves. Hoping they get over it soon or I may have to take the anemone away from them.
