Current Dual Ramp Timer Review Empty Current Dual Ramp Timer Review

With the success I had with the Current Single Ramp Timer I had high hopes for the new Dual Ramp Timer.
(Here is my review on the Single Ramp timer: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] )

I will begin with the fact I have two of the 36" Current Satellite + LED's on my 6 foot 210 gallon tank. The full spectrum setting really makes the fish pop and if you are using the one of the six preset settings with no effects or changes it is possible to use a ramp timer. I had contacted Current USA about using a Single Ramp with a splitter but my two fixture would exceed what the timer could do. They suggested the Dual Ramp along with the reminder to get a new transformer that was rated at 50 watts. I got my transformer and waited for a while until the new Dual Ramp finally became available and I ordered it from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for $54.99 with free shipping.

Out of the box the new Dual Ramp Timer is very sleek and slimline compared to the Single Ramp. In fact the Dual looks to have an aluminum housing while the Single is about twice the size and plastic. The Dual also include a remote and extra battery.

The instructions were simple enough to follow and each channel was set for on/off times and there is even an intensity setting for each channel which could come in handy if you did not want a secondary/moon light to be as bright. It is on a 24 hour clock so no confusion as to am or pm.

I should have known the unit I received was defective as soon as I plugged it in.... It started to do weird countdowns at a high speed and was turning on/off one of the channel every 10 seconds or so. But I managed to set everything and it seemed fine until the time came to ramp down for the evening. Then one channel started to turn on/off every ten seconds and I noticed the digital display again doing the countdowns at high speed. The other channel did not even start to ramp at all. So I sent an email to the place I purchased it from and see about returning this. Im kind of reluctant to even try another one. My simple digital timers worked fine but was just a pain because I used two timers with two sets of lights to try and achieve a dusk/dawn effect. One simple ramp timer would have solved it all. Sad to say I am totally disappointed in this product and would not recommend it at this time.
