Sparkling gouramis swimming around
I got lucky with my fish tank morning picture in the gallery, so I figured I'd keep taking pictures. My sparkling gouramis were around playing, so here you go...

They look amazing, MRTom!! Are those the ones I caught out of the overstock tank? They've colored up so beautifully since then!

Awesomesauce!!!! One of my fav non-cichlid fish. A large group in a dark tanin tank is stunning.

Thanks!
Poke, some of them are, I found a few more elsewhere and they all got together nicely. I am pretty sure the solid stripe one I got from you in the overstock tank

Re: Sparkling gouramis swimming around
So it turns out that one of my "sparkling gouramis" was actually a croaking gourami! I've since added a few more croaking gouramis (I'll be separating them soon before they try breeding), and the croaks are a lot of fun to hear! Since a lot of folks have been asking about the croaking, I figured I'd share more details.
In the pic below, the fish on the top left is a croaking ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) gourami. The other two are sparkling ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]) gouramis. Note the solid vs broken top line. The croaking also has a third bottom line that seems to come and go with mood (I've only spotted it once on mine).

I'm too lazy to record and post a video of the croaking, but here is a video from youtube of what they sound like (go to 32 and 39 seconds).

I wonder what a tank full of those guys would sound like? Do your "few more" keep the beat going Tom?

FYI ... the third member of the genus is known as the purring gourami.

Not quite a beat, just a sporadic, "hey, what's that noise?" kind of thing. A big tank full of these would be awesome!cichlid-gal wrote:I wonder what a tank full of those guys would sound like? Do your "few more" keep the beat going Tom?
