When you say mid 6's, you mean like 8.6 not 6.6? Right? _________________ A LOT

| Actually lake victoria has a lower PH than most African rift lakes, and has an average around 6.4 if memory serves me. That being said I keep mine in a PH closer to 7.6 since it's what comes out of the tap and I have kept them in takes with young frontosa at about 8.4, they are active and breed in any of these PH levels. |

Thanks for the shinning endorsement Finsandfeathers actually held the colony for me while they were in transit back to me, so she has seen the breeders first hand. Long story, but I gave this group to Fern in Florida and then she went into Coral so they came back to me. I am very happy about that, cause they were the only fish I ever regretted letting go. |

| Just a update. I still have plenty of these, and now am considering trades for equipment. Mainly I need Acrylic tanks sizes 40 gallons and up, canister filters, a pond pump. Something like an AP 40, AP 50, AP 60 would be ideal, but other large air pumps would be considered. I also could use some Eheim heaters, 10 gallon tanks, and dare I hope a nice generator??
Any trades will not only get you some great fish, but also go to a good cause as I am involved in breeding some of the most rare and endangered Victorian Cichlids as part of a preservation project and with a goal of introducing these fish to the American hobby soon. Victorian Cichlids are amazingly diverse like the fish of Malawi, but unfortunately about half of the species were lost in the last 20 to 30 years do to some poor choices by people. The lake is extremely interesting because it is a prime example of hyper evolution. Confirmed species have been observed in the lake going from blue to red in a matter of half a decade! It is worth a read if you have time. |
