I'm looking for some sand for my 300, probably between 1-2 hundred pounds.. I'd like to find some Black or Natural color for my tank.. I don't want the really fine stuff so probably a T grade i think. If anyone knows a good place that sell any up north or on the east side that works to.. Thanks.

Home depot - quikrete commercial grade sand; prewashed. I think is comes in white or khaki colours. Not sure about the price, but I've read it's cheap.

Thanks, i'll go and check that out this weekend sometime.. I know they have the almost white stuff because my friend just bought some but he said it's as fine as sugar.. And i know my rays would stir that stuff up big time.

They have fine stuff, and heavier stuff too... think it 7 bucks for 50lbs.... Otherwise your gonna be spending allot of money at a pet shop on black sand... especially that much, and buying it online your shipping cost would be crazy.

Ballard sand and gravel will fill up a pickup of silica sand for like 100$ or something ridiculously cheap. Never done it myself but have been told. Probably worth a phone call if you are still looking...

My boyfriend got the silica sand Icer is using as well he has cichlids with his, they rub on the bottom occasionally and it doesn't stir up much but of course stingrays have ALOT more power to them than a 4" cichlid lol. But it was relatively easy to use in the tank, it is almost white. But cheap price for that much! He bought a 20lbs bag of cichlid shell fragments and put in with it and it looks great. I need to post new pictures now that the tank is up and running.

got the white kind...... they have it @ hd in Silverdale, but i also got some pool filter betty use's just haven't done anything with it yet its more of a orangeie/brown color ... im gonna mix them in a small about and see what i end up with before i go crazy and do the whole thing... tried that with the black and white (the LFS 25$a bag stuff) but the grains are so much different in size they hardly mixed looked awful so i never did it |

icer711, thanks for the sand bag, nice meeting you. I'll get to use the this weekend. The pool sand works good, I have a buddy that uses for his arro tank. its dense that the waste does not get trap and heavy enough that he can run power heads.... I'm still looking for some black sand, can't afford Wetspot's $2.50 a pound,
