The poor girl was only 8 years old when it happened...
Not to mention she could have already had the scratch/scrape before she reached into the tank.

iv seen that add before...its rare for people to get infected..infect its a common bacteria in tanks.
same goes for the 'normal' flesh eating bacteria you can pick up almost anywhere.... a few years back a little boy here in WA fell and split his lip on the playground and contracted it.
most people just don't pick it up...its rare.

I don't think I've ever cut myself in a tank, but I have two tanks that have fish in them (mbuna) that routinely bite hard enough to draw blood. I've read about these infections before, so I try to wear gloves when I work in those tanks.

I dont put my hands in the tank if I got a cut. I also have a habit of washing my hands with soap after finishing water change for the tanks.
