| These are true monsters very high bodied, and thick, its not uncommon for males to reach the 17 inch mark and females are a bit smaller. And yes king I'm really stoked. |

| This is an old post that I thought I would bring back up. Why? Because I am a proud owner of a pearsei now. With the recent group buy from Cichlid Connection I got a wild caught Rio Zapote, Mexico pearsei that was sexed as male, he is about 7". He is pretty shy right now and it doesnt help that my argentea female is such a pill, but he is starting to get more comfortable. What got me motivated to get one of these guys was this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUth6jrrBFE Also some good info on this site: http://www.mchportal.com/aquatic-life-mainmenu-114/aquatic-life-freshwater-mainmenu-142/96-fw-tropical-fish/394-ex-cichlasoma-pearsei.html These guys get BIG, males upwards to 16-17" , so you will need a BIG tank. They are considered "gentle giants" but seem to hold their own if confronted. So far fish_n_vw and myself are the only ones I know on this site who are raising these and madness has been talking about getting one because it is the only fish he is missing in his collection. So if you have a large tank and want a large peaceful fish, the pearsei is for you. This is what an adult looks like, not my pictures by the way, all from Aqua Mojo: You know you want one...

| Almost forgot, in the tradition of naming my fish, my new pearsei is Frank.
I chose the name because of the blue eyes after "old blue eyes" himself, Frank Sinatra.
Waiting on fish_n_vw to show up with more info on his... they have to be at least 9"+ now, from what Ive seen of them. |

| Lol, madness your great..... yeah I do have a bit of info on them although mine have developed hole in the head and I'm pretty upset about it. They have been loads of fun great personality big and fast growing. I think my largest is more like 10 maybee 11 inches. He's big. From what I have read they don't spawn untill there about 2 years old and by that time there usually about 12 to 14 inches. There was a really good right up on these guys and I will hunt it down for anyone intrested in learning more. I hope this hith clears, otherwise I'm gonna be putting them down and starting with some of your guys siblings. I don't want to spend 150 bucks just to replace fish I already have, but I want attractive and good looking fish. Here's a few pics to compare to the ones up top. That one is from about 3 months ago. Soda can was for size comparison, these others were takin at the same time as that one, so about 3 months ago. And these are now, they suck because I'm impatiant. I normaly take like 300 pictures to get 1 I like but here I took about 20. These show the hith, I'm a bit disapointed in myself. I don't even know how it happened but, whatever, live and learn I guess. I just put a lot of time and work into these fish. A lot of money in food and extra water changes to make them grow faster. It just suckes because I dident know what I did so it not even a learning experiance. Just one that pisses me off. Anyway hope you enjoy the pics and I find that write up on them if anyone is looking for info. _________________ 180: rio coloradito & rio usumantica (temp combo) 4x F1 A. You know spyral right? The 90 year old that I feel is sitting in front of his aquarium all the time with a fishing line and some bait in the water..... I wonder if he uses a bober?????? _________________ 180: rio coloradito & rio usumantica (temp combo) 4x F1 A. | Back 20+ years ago when I raised fish I had a Midas that was named Flipper. Ive always named my fish, just one of those things. If I had as many fish as madness I would probably just come up with a generic name for each tank like Germany, France or Spain, since the number of fish he owns is more than the population of some countries. |

| I like the Seattle Snook, but they need better starters and coaching. The Green Bay "Cheese Head" Snook always seem to out perform. I wish I would have ordered some on our last group buy, but they were just so small. I want to be able to put them in the big boy tank and not have to grow them out. There is just something cool about them... (Not my pic) |
