For sale are a large number of demasoni cichlids, 1-1.5” in length. Demasoni are one of the most sought-after of the mbuna cichlids. These dwarfs are from the Pombo Rocks region of Lake Malawi, and will only reach 2.5-3” when fully mature. They are highly aggressive, but only toward members of their own species and therefore must be kept in large colonies of at least 12-15. Their tank must be filled with lots of rocks that produce small hiding spaces, as they will quickly establish small territories and defend them vigorously. Demasoni are very active and like to explore; they also exhibit more personality than most mbuna, hugging the rock walls so close that they swim at odd angels – even upside down – while chasing or exploring. Like all rift lake cichlids they prefer water that is high in pH and you’ll need a tank that is at least 36” to keep them. 1+ ~ $8/ea 12+ ~ $6/ea 20+ ~ $5/ea Pictured below are a female and a dominant male from our breeding colony.

Yes... larry's are better, mine have crappy bars, I only got 12 of them and put them in a 30 gal. They have slowly been dieing off because of aggression, I recently moved them into a 46 BF and changed the aquascape to more South American style, no rock caves, just went planted bogwood and lost of plants. The change in aquascape is only 1 day old, but in that 1 day there attitude really is more peaceful, I even seen them schooling together. If you plan on getting some I would for sure get 20 or more, with 12 no more than 1 1/2 months having them ive lost 5 so far, but ones holding now.

Hey Doza, yes I still have plenty of dem's to sell - mostly at the 1.25-1.5" range as I recall. I'm not at home right now to look. LOL PM me if you want to talk further. Thanks for the nods Addicted. We're gonna get your colony stable and back on track - maybe infuse some new blood to get the quality up. You've mentioned the bars... how are their colors? That's the thing that drives me crazy. Oh, one thing I didn't mention... once I got to the point where I had a holding mommy the colony was pretty much stable.

One of the sharp demasonis.. Taken with camera phone and the lighting is more of a blue hue which is discoloring the black bars.
