I actually bought mine in June 2009 from someone in NY as babies and I've been growing them out. My understanding is they start to breed at about 18 months of age and have smaller spawns. I do see them on Aquabid from time to time.

I picked up what I suspect is a young male (just showing signs of bristles) at the wet spot on the way back from California 2 days ago. Am looking for a female from a different source but don't really want to pay aquabid prices with shipping.
