Snails of all Horror Empty Snails of all Horror

If the title doesn't say it all, I am still vomiting internally.

So, when I first went to a university, WWU, they had a no pet rule in the dorms. I wish I had tattled on our next door neighbor. He kept aquatic snails. My roommate and I lived in a typical tiny dorm room in Fairhaven. It was part of a two room "suite" with a bathroom set between. Each room had a door to the outside and had a lock on the bathroom door.

Our suitemate had a 5 or so gallon fishbowl with a number of large snails in it which he fed lettuce.

Come time for a break he decided to overload their bowl with food and leave them be for the two or three weeks.

When we came back a few days before him we found our whole suite, including our room, was snail death rancid. And we couldn't get into his room.

This was a four or so years back, but when I just opened my back of Nerites to put in my tank, I got a flash back from the smell. Who knew snails had a smell.

+1, my Nerites from eBay had no smell when they arrived. I was warned, however, that a dead snail is STINKY!!!

All 8 of them grabbed onto the glass and took off. Maybe the water had something from a dead snail on their end.

Possibly they came out of rotting plant water.. if you filp them over and they physicaly smell which is horried they have passed, warm water in open side down helps accumlate faster. The green ones can take to 2-3 days sorry if I'm covering something twice but doing this with my phone lol

Thanks. I'll check. They still look fine though and it has been half a week.
